About Us

Ashley Rosser

Ms. Ashley is a co-founder/owner of Munchkin Academy Preschool. She has her Bachelor of Elementary Education with a Major in Mathematics from Wayne State University. She had 7 years of teaching experience, 6 of those years being in a full day PUF Preschool program, before deciding to take on a new adventure in building and developing Munchkin Academy Preschool. She believes in learning through play, exploration and hands on activities… even if that means getting messy! Ms. Ashley competitively swam for 10 years including at the NCAA level. She likes to keep fit and active with her two boys. One of her boys graduated from Munchkin Academy in 2019 and is now attending grade school, and her youngest has joined us in our Junior Kindergarten class. Ms. Ashley loves coming to school everyday and watching all the little Munchkins learn and grow!

Carrie O'Reilly

Ms. Carrie is a co-founder/owner of Munchkin Academy Preschool. She has her Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies from the University of Calgary. She had 5 ½ years of teaching experience, 4 of those years being in a full day PUF Preschool program, before deciding to take on a new adventure in building and developing Munchkin Academy Preschool. She believes in a hands on approach to teaching and encourages learning through play and peer interactions. Ms. Carrie grew up playing competitive hockey, including at the semi-pro level, and continues to play in a women’s league in Calgary. She currently has a son attending the Kindergarten program, a 2 year old son and a brand new baby! Ms. Carrie is currently taking some time off to enjoy her new addition but you will see her around the school from time to time!

Elselijn Huber

Ms. Elselijn has been with Munchkin Academy since opening day in November of 2017. She has her diploma in Early Childhood Development from Mount Royal University. Ms. Elselijn has several years experience with teaching preschool including programs at the Genesis Place in Airdrie. Ms. Elselijn loves interacting with the kids, teaching with a hands on approach and being present in the moment. Ms. Elselijn has been a great addition to the Munchkin staff and the kids adore her!

Our Philosophy

At Munchkin Academy we believe that the preschool years are essential to a child’s developmental progress as they embark on their elementary school years and beyond. We offer a high quality early childhood experience and provide a structured yet flexible learning environment. We believe that structure promotes trust within the children as they are better able to predict each day. At Munchkin Academy, we use the FunShine Express Fireflies Curriculum as well as the Jolly Phonics Curriculum to target all of the preschool standards. We understand and acknowledge that all children learn differently and it is our responsibility as educators to explore all teaching options and respect every child’s individual needs. We believe that play based learning in a healthy and safe environment promotes a fun and imaginative setting that all students can learn from and gain many fine and gross motor skills. Parent involvement is part of our program and it is our belief that if we all work together as a team each child can reach their full potential during their preschool years.
